The article deep-dived into the topic, providing a detailed list of every celebrity who appeared to inherit their fame instead of earning it.
Most celebrities were quick to acknowledge the advantages of a famous last name, but those who didn’t were heavily criticised by the public and the media.
Love them or hate them, here are five of our favourite nepo babies of 2023.
1. Maude Apatow, the nepo baby who started it all
Maude Apatow, who plays the beloved character Lexi Howard on HBO’s Euphoria, was one of the firsts to get called out for her family connections.In a 2022 post on X, a fan of the show expressed their shock in finding out that Maude is the daughter of director Judd Apatow and actress Leslie Mann. Soon the entire internet was finding out that their favourite actors got a head start in their careers.

Maude, who started out acting in her dad’s films, said being called a nepo baby made her “sad” but motivated to prove herself. “It’s so early in my career, I don’t have much to show yet, but hopefully one day, I’ll be really proud of the stuff I’ve done by myself,” she said in an interview with Net-a-Porter.
2. Brooklyn Peltz Beckham
Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham is arguably the most heavily criticised nepo baby on the internet. The oldest of David and Victoria Beckham’s kids, the 24-year-old has cycled through a long list of short-lived passions. He was a footballer at 16, briefly pursued photography, and has been dragged on social media for his current passion – cooking.When it comes to the nepo baby allegations, he has clarified that he doesn’t want to ride on the Beckham name. “I am so proud of my parents and their accomplishments, but right now I am trying to make my own path and trying to have fun while doing it,” he said in an interview with Forbes magazine.

3. Lily-Rose Depp
The French-American actress and supermodel has previously dismissed the nepo baby accusations. “Maybe you get your foot in the door, but you still just have your foot in the door. There’s a lot of work that comes after that,” she said in an Elle interview.
Her answer was not well received. Several self-made supermodels like Vittoria Ceretti and Anok Yai called her out for refusing to acknowledge that she had a leg up in the industry.
4. Zoë Kravitz
Daughter to actress Lisa Bonnet and legendary singer Lenny Kravitz, the Batman actress previously expressed her fear that her success would be credited to her famous parents, in an interview with GQ.

“It’s completely normal for people to be in the family business,” she said in the interview, emphasising that she and other nepo babies aren’t undeserving of their careers simply because they have famous parents.
5. Hailey Bieber
Former model Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin), comes from the high-flying Baldwin family. Her dad is director Stephen Baldwin and her uncle is the highly successful actor Alec Baldwin.
Bieber really leaned into the nepotism label by wearing her viral baby tee with the words “nepo baby” early this year.
In an interview with The Circuit, the Rhode Skin founder explained that she accepted the label “because I am one, and I embrace that I am.” she said.Unfortunately for her, the internet decided that she wasn’t “that much of a nepo baby”. There seems to be no winning in the nepotism debate. Deny it and get shunned, acknowledge it and still get shunned.
