Vernell Beech Geddie
Vernell Beech Geddie of Ellisville, stepped into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, October 16, 2023.
Nell passed away at Forrest General Hospital at the age of 89.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Ellisville Funeral Home. Funeral services to follow at 11:00AM at Ellisville Funeral Home. Immediately following the service interment will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellisville, Mississippi. Rev Jerry East, her pastor and friend will officiate. Nell was born on May 11, 1934, to Olon and Jessie Bell Smith Beech. She was one of 5 children and was a devoted Mother to 4 boys. She was always committed to her family, and put them first in everything she did. She married Jesse Gerald Geddie and ended up settling in Columbus, Ohio where they raised their family.
In Columbus she was the librarian and later Secretary at Fairmoor School until she retired. She loved bowling and was a member of a bowling team that traveled to many places to compete. She also continued to bowl after she moved to Mississippi.
When she and Gerald retired they came home to Ellisville, where she lived on County Home Road for many years. Gerald died July 27, 2006, and she continued to live there until she became unable to live alone at that time she moved in with her son and daughter in law, Michael and Zelda Geddie. She was a longtime member of West Ellisville Baptist Church and enjoyed her friends there when she was able to attend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Gerald Geddie; sons, Michael Dale Geddie, Danny Earl Geddie; father, Olon Thomas Beech; mother, Jessie Bell Smith Beech; brothers, Cleston Beech and William Thomas Beech; sister, Loya Mae Skipper.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Gerry) Geddie and Tony (Kelly) Geddie, and Daughter in Law, Zelda Geddie. Grandchildren, Tricia (Zach) Eubanks, Sierra Geddie, Brian Eubank, and CharLee (Chris) Velez; Great Grandchildren, Michael Pyles, Hannah Pyles, Randee Ramey, Alexia Ramey, Isaac Ramey, C.J. Velez, Chanel Velez, and Ariana Velez; Great-Great Grandchildren, Christopher and Celiana Jo Gonzalez. Sister, Ola Mitchell, sisters-in-law, Eleanor Beech and Donnie Geddie. Brothers-in-law, Billy (Elaine) Geddie and Glenn (Linda) Geddie and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many dear friends.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Beech, Darryl Geddie, Randall Scarbrough, Robert Scarbrough, Ronnie Scarbrough, and Brian Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Scarbrough and Jessie Geddie.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to West Ellisville Building Fund.
