The Marvel star has opened up about what he feels ‘blessed for’ exactly a year after his horrific snow plow accident. The terrifying incident occurred when Jeremy Renner was trying to help try to help his nephew, Alexander Fries, pull his car out of deep snow.

The Hollywood star was crushed by the seven-ton vehicle outside his home, resulting in 30 broken bones, being rushed to hospital, and needing several surgeries. The star made his first red carpet appearance after the incident in April, three months later, when he released his Disney+ series Rennervations. He’s now opening up about the aftermath, and the effect on his nephew.

Jeremy Renner says healing is also for his nephew

Speaking to CNN on New Year’s Eve, at the end of his ‘tough year’ the 52-year-old told co-hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper he’s “so blessed to have so many things to live for”.

“I have a giant family, I have a 10-year-old daughter, [and] I would’ve disappointed and really messed up a lot of people’s lives if I would’ve passed, and so there’s a lot for me to get better for,” he said.

His miraculous recovery became a ‘relief’ because it relieved his family, including his nephew, who was there at the time.

“I knew I could give relief to my family, my daughter and all those that I really affected,” the star opened up.

“And my poor nephew, who was there with me on that day, I gave him images that he can never unsee, but I know that my healing would be healing for him.”

The accident occurred when Jeremy used the plow to successfully rescue his adult nephew, whose vehicle had gotten stuck in the storm. Unfortunately, after exiting the plow, the vehicle started rolling towards him, resulting in crushing him.

Renner also credited his mental attitude to help get him through, as he said his attitude was “always to get better”.

The star is set to release an EP a year after his accident

The star recently took to his Instagram to credit his daughter a year after the accident, and to announce his EP, set to release on Jan 19th.

He recently released his new single, Wait, featuring his daughter Ava Berlin, who he shares with ex Sonni Pacheco, in the emotional video.

In the caption to his post, the Rennervations star penned: “Reason number One for my recovery is her. I asked her to “wait for me” when I first saw her January 14 as I arrived home. As I got better, she got better, less afraid.

“There is simply no better motivator to recover than to heal your family and friends…. With gratitude always, thank you all for your love and support this last full year. I needed every ounce of goodwill and prayer.”
